The hands-on workshop pairs creative making with a brief history of Juneteenth and Maryland's complex emancipation story, encouraging participants to explore symbols of freedom through fabric, paper, and mixed-media projects. Materials are provided and participants take their finished crafts home. The Enoch Pratt Free Library is one of the oldest free public library systems in the United States, established in 1882, and runs Juneteenth-related programming across its branches in early to mid June. Registration is encouraged because supplies are limited but walk-ins are welcomed while seats remain.
Snow Hill Games Juneteenth Celebration (Lawnside Historical Society)

The Lawnside Historical Society hosts this virtual Juneteenth celebration honoring Snow Hill, the original 19th-century name for Lawnside, Camden County - the first incorporated independent African American municipality north of the Mason-Dixon Line. The program features local Black history trivia via Kahoot, interactive genealogy research showing participants how to trace where their family was during Juneteenth 1865, and storytelling about Lawnside's role as a Underground Railroad terminus and home to free Black families like that of Rev. Peter Mott. Anyone may watch for free; a $5 fee enters participants in the Kahoot trivia competition with prizes, and a $20 tier includes a set of Lawnside History Postcards. The program connects Juneteenth to Camden County's distinct legacy as a self-governed Black community founded by formerly enslaved people and abolitionists.

Celebrate Freedom Festival at Emancipation Park

The Celebrate Freedom Festival at Emancipation Park β the first public park in Texas purchased by formerly enslaved African Americans in 1872 β brings together seven historic Black communities in Houston to celebrate culture and pay homage to Juneteenth pioneers. Programming includes the Red Foods Cookoff from 1pm to 3pm where festival-goers sample dishes featuring the Juneteenth tradition of red foods.

Organized by UMB's Office of Community Engagement and the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Jubilee has grown into one of the largest workplace Juneteenth observances in downtown Baltimore and is open to all UMB employees, students, and guests.

KaJe Movement Collective Founded by Kara Jenelle Wade, M.F.A., KaJe Movement Collective is performance ensemble of radiant artistic Sistas embodying cultural legacy, creativity, and powerful presence. Rooted in rhythms of the African diaspora, social dance, and contemporary expression, the company integrates spoken word, musical composition, and cinematic visuals to evoke, educate, and represent their culture as members of the global majority. Their choreographies honor the impact of Black histories, the vibrancy of Black joy, and the urgency of liberation A Lady in the House Dance [ALITH] Created in 2012 by Nubian NΓ©nΓ©, ALITH, a space for creative exploration, empowerment, and artistic innovation. The company draws from themes of self-reflection, societal expectations, mental health, and the Black woman narrative, using Street and Club dance as a powerful language for storytelling. Through movements, ALITH seeks to spark awareness, conversation, and connectionβboth within the dance community and beyond. Committed to breaking forms, eliminating boundaries, and challenging the status quo, ALITH reimagines what is possible in dance and performance. Notable works STANCE (2016), Rainbow Queens (2018), Come On Down (2018), Dualis (2022), Signature Verses Liberation (2022), and traceable (2025) the latest 80-min solo work, exploring mental health and its impact on creativity. NEFER NEFER is a multidisciplinary creative ecosystem founded by Toyin Sogunro that explores movement, memory, ritual, and Black cultural expression through performance, education, and community gathering. Rooted in Black street and club dance forms, diasporic traditions, and contemporary storytelling, NEFER creates immersive experiences that investigate identity, ancestry, transformation, and collective care. Existing between the sacred and the street, its work transforms personal and cultural histories into spaces of connection, reflection, and liberation. Diyanna Monet Diyanna Monet is a Washington DC multidisciplinary artist, whose enthusiasm and ambition for movement stems from her childhood exposure to music genres such as Hip-Hop, R&B, and the native Go-Go sound, which catalyzed her path in DJing. Free and open to all, the ceremony is one of the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire's signature Juneteenth observances and typically draws community members from across the Seacoast region. The African Burying Ground was rediscovered in 2003 during a street project and consecrated as a memorial park in 2015.

Tulsa Juneteenth Festival 2026

The Tulsa Juneteenth Festival is a multi-day, community-powered celebration in the heart of the historic Greenwood District, the Home of Black Wall Street. Produced by Tulsa Juneteenth Inc. with extensive community partners, the festival fills Greenwood Avenue with live music across multiple stages, hundreds of Black-owned vendors and food trucks, family activities, an HBCU experience, cultural programming, and tributes to the legacy of Black Wall Street and the survivors of the 1921 Race Massacre. The festival is free and open to all, drawing tens of thousands of attendees from across Oklahoma and the country.
