We will walk the area inside THE HUb, rain or shine. THIS WALK IS inspired by Dr. Opal Lee's,"Opal's Walk for Freedom. Dr. Opal Lee was 89 years old when she began her iconic 1,400-mile walk from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., in September 2016, walking 2.5 miles a day for several months, to advocate for Juneteenth to become a national holiday. 2.5 miles represent the 2.5 years it took for slaves in Texas to learn of their freedom. She continued this tradition annually, leading community walks today.

Their choreographies honor the impact of Black histories, the vibrancy of Black joy, and the urgency of liberation A Lady in the House Dance [ALITH] Created in 2012 by Nubian NΓ©nΓ©, ALITH, a space for creative exploration, empowerment, and artistic innovation. The company draws from themes of self-reflection, societal expectations, mental health, and the Black woman narrative, using Street and Club dance as a powerful language for storytelling. Through movements, ALITH seeks to spark awareness, conversation, and connectionβboth within the dance community and beyond. NEFER NEFER is a multidisciplinary creative ecosystem founded by Toyin Sogunro that explores movement, memory, ritual, and Black cultural expression through performance, education, and community gathering. Rooted in Black street and club dance forms, diasporic traditions, and contemporary storytelling, NEFER creates immersive experiences that investigate identity, ancestry, transformation, and collective care.
