About This Event

The annual Juneteenth Jubilee at African Cemetery No. 2 honors the spirit of freedom and the United States Colored Troops buried at the historic Black cemetery in Lexington's East End. The program includes wreath-laying, music, spoken word, and remarks honoring Civil War soldiers who fought for freedom. African Cemetery No. 2 was established in 1869 and is the resting place of more than 5,000 African Americans, including dozens of USCT soldiers.
