The 2026 Coastal Bend Juneteenth Festival closes Sunday with Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter Elle Varner, whose soulful catalog spanning "Refill," "Only Wanna Give It to You," and newer independent releases brings the weekend to a powerful, melodic close. Sunday programming at Water's Edge Park leans into family, gospel-tinged sets, community recognition, and a closing-out vibe that honors the weekend's "Waves of Liberation" theme. The Sunday main-stage performance is presented by TABPHE-CC, the festival's volunteer-run host organization that has built this event into one of South Texas's signature Juneteenth observances over the past nine years. Black-owned vendors, food trucks, and the health and wellness pavilion continue through the day.

Celebrate Freedom Festival at Emancipation Park

The Celebrate Freedom Festival at Emancipation Park — the first public park in Texas purchased by formerly enslaved African Americans in 1872 — brings together seven historic Black communities in Houston to celebrate culture and pay homage to Juneteenth pioneers. Programming includes the Red Foods Cookoff from 1pm to 3pm where festival-goers sample dishes featuring the Juneteenth tradition of red foods.
