Composer-pianist Eric Genuis brings his Concerts for Hope series to North St. Louis for three Juneteenth weekend performances directly benefiting neighborhoods within the historic Greater Ville and surrounding North City corridor. Genuis, known for performing in prisons, rehabilitation centers, and underserved communities worldwide, leads a classical chamber ensemble featuring violin, cello, and soprano through original compositions that move from lament to triumph. The Friday evening and Saturday matinee and evening shows at Power Creative create a ticketed cultural offering in a part of St. Louis long underserved by mainstream concert venues, with proceeds reinvested in North City programming. The performance honors Juneteenth's themes of liberation and renewal through accessible classical music in a community whose cultural infrastructure has been steadily rebuilt by Black-led organizations.

Missouri-based Center for Authentic Listening & Learning (C.A.L.L.) will host their Annual Juneteenth brunch June 19th from 11 AM to 2 PM. The brunch will feature an in-person panel discussion titled βFrom the Hospital to the Land: Reclaiming Wellness on Missouriβs First Black Resort.β The event is their annual fundraiser and supports their initiatives for the historic 244-acres of land at Lake Placid, MO. In addition to the discussion, the event will include a live jazz ensemble performance. The conversation will explore how Black communities have historically created spaces of refuge, restoration, and collective healing in response to racialized systems that have shaped health and well-being. Arianna Blakemore, Dr. Kaleea Lewis, and Dr. Will Ross are the featured panelists.

Soul of a People: A Juneteenth Celebration of Black Music

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra presents Soul of a People at the newly renovated $140M Powell Hall, honoring Juneteenth and Black Music Month with a full-orchestra tribute to Black artists who shaped American culture. Conductor Kevin McBeth leads the SLSO and the historic IN UNISON Chorus alongside vocalists LaKisha Jones (American Idol) and Ryan Shaw (America's Got Talent) through arrangements of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Sam Cooke, Diana Ross, Bill Withers, Gloria Gaynor, Lionel Richie, and Kool & the Gang. The IN UNISON Chorus, founded in 1994, was created specifically to perform music of African and African American composers and remains one of the few symphony-affiliated Black choruses in the United States, anchoring the SLSO's decades-long commitment to community partnership and Juneteenth observance.

The Juneteenth Joint takes over a Midtown St. Louis venue at 3225 Olive Street for a Friday night Juneteenth celebration spotlighting Black St. Louis music, DJs, and nightlife. Doors open at 8 p.m. for an evening blending soul, hip-hop, R&B, and dance music with performances curated by local artists and producers. The Midtown corridor on Olive sits between Grand Center and the Harris-Stowe campus, an area that during the Great Migration anchored Black-owned jazz clubs, social halls, and businesses serving the city's Black professional and creative class. The Juneteenth Joint extends that lineage as a ticketed late-night cultural offering, complementing the family-friendly daytime programming elsewhere in the city with an adults-focused space to mark the holiday.

The Mister Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant at the University of Missouri-St. Louis showcases Black male high school graduates from across the St. Louis region competing for college scholarships at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center. Held in the Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater on the UMSL campus, the program features contestants in formal wear, talent, and oratory rounds, with judging that weighs academic achievement, community service, and personal vision. Anchored at UMSL, a public research university serving one of the most diverse student bodies in the state, the pageant intentionally inverts the historical exclusion of Black men from scholarship pageantry and creates a public stage for celebrating Black male leadership and aspiration during Juneteenth weekend. The event culminates in scholarship awards and a coronation.
