The program typically includes keynote remarks, musical performances, soul food, and recognition of community leaders. Hosted on the historic Homewood campus, the event is part of Johns Hopkins' broader Juneteenth observance, which includes university holiday closure on June 19. BFSA has organized the celebration annually since Juneteenth became a federal holiday and uses it to spotlight Black scholarship, arts, and service across the Hopkins enterprise.
UMB Annual Juneteenth Jubilee

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) invites the campus community and West Baltimore neighbors to its Annual Juneteenth Jubilee at the 4MLK Building. The lunchtime gathering commemorates the end of slavery in the United States while celebrating African American freedom, culture, and achievement across UMB's seven professional schools. Programming includes a DJ and live music, free food featuring soul food favorites, giveaways, vendor tables from Black-owned businesses, and remarks from UMB leadership and community partners. Organized by UMB's Office of Community Engagement and the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Jubilee has grown into one of the largest workplace Juneteenth observances in downtown Baltimore and is open to all UMB employees, students, and guests.

Voices of History Street Fair at the National Great Blacks In Wax Museum

The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum hosts its annual Voices of History Street Fair, a free summer celebration of community arts, culture, and health that coincides with both the Juneteenth holiday and the museum's anniversary. The block-party-style event closes a stretch of East North Avenue for live music, spoken-word performances, dance, vendors, youth programming, and on-site health and wellness resources. The museum stays open for walk-in tours throughout the day, allowing guests to experience more than 150 life-sized wax figures of African American historical figures, including the newer figure of Henrietta Lacks. Founded by Dr. Elmer and Joanne Martin in 1983, the museum is the first wax museum dedicated to African American history in the United States.
Juneteenth Craft at Enoch Pratt Free Library

The Enoch Pratt Free Library hosts a Juneteenth Craft program for adults at the Patterson Park branch as part of its citywide commemoration of the federal holiday. The hands-on workshop pairs creative making with a brief history of Juneteenth and Maryland's complex emancipation story, encouraging participants to explore symbols of freedom through fabric, paper, and mixed-media projects. Materials are provided and participants take their finished crafts home. The Enoch Pratt Free Library is one of the oldest free public library systems in the United States, established in 1882, and runs Juneteenth-related programming across its branches in early to mid June. Registration is encouraged because supplies are limited but walk-ins are welcomed while seats remain.
