Hattiesburg Juneteenth Festival

The Hattiesburg Juneteenth Festival is a free two-day celebration of freedom held at Vernon Dahmer Park, named for the civil rights leader who gave his life registering Black voters in Mississippi. The festival opens June 19 with a flag raising ceremony, a citywide parade beginning at the Hattiesburg Police Department, gospel, blues and R&B performances, and a fireworks show that evening. Saturday brings a car show, softball, cornhole and pickleball tournaments, a kids zone with rides and swimming, and rows of food, art and craft vendors. The Pine Belt's signature Juneteenth gathering draws thousands across Forrest County and South Mississippi.

Hattiesburg Juneteenth Festival - Day Two

Day two of the Hattiesburg Juneteenth Festival continues at Vernon Dahmer Park with a full day of family programming. The schedule features the big car show, ongoing softball, cornhole and pickleball tournaments, gospel and R&B sets on the main stage, and a kids zone with rides and pool access. Dozens of Black-owned food trucks and craft vendors line the park alongside community resource booths from local nonprofits. The park is named for slain voting rights leader Vernon Dahmer Sr., giving the celebration a direct tie to Mississippi's civil rights legacy. Bring chairs, sunscreen, and the whole family. Admission is free.
