4th Annual Macon-Bibb Juneteenth Parade: Black Boy Joy Edition
About This Event
Macon Black Culture and Macon-Bibb County partner with the historic Douglass Theatre for the 4th Annual Juneteenth Parade, themed Black Boy Joy. Stepping off at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, the parade winds through downtown Macon and intentionally routes past the Tubman Museum, the Douglass Theatre, and the Redding Center for the Arts, three pillars of the city's African American cultural corridor. This year's theme uplifts the creativity, resilience, and brilliance of Black boys across Middle Georgia, with bands, drill teams, classic cars, civic organizations, and family floats. A vibrant, free, family-friendly close to Macon's Juneteenth season.

Cultural programs go deeper than festivals — think curated exhibits, panel discussions, gallery talks, dance performances, oral history projects, and film screenings. They’re generally shorter (1 to 3 hours) and ticketed venues often waive admission for Juneteenth. Dress is typically smart casual. These programs are excellent first Juneteenth experiences for visitors who want context before joining a parade or block party.
