About This Event

The High Museum extends its Juneteenth observance into the evening with a special edition of its signature Friday Jazz series, transforming the Robert and Sarah Carr Wing, the Stent Family Wing piazza, and the Susan and John Wieland Pavilion into three concurrent stages of live jazz from 6–10 p.m. Programming centers Black American music as a freedom practice β€” the through-line from spirituals and field songs to bebop, hard bop, and contemporary improvisation β€” with Atlanta and touring artists performing across genres. A separate Juneteenth VIP Night (5–9 p.m.) offers after-hours access to the Amy Sherald: American Sublime exhibition paired with Friday Jazz, making the evening one of the most distinctive ticketed Juneteenth concert experiences in the city.

What to expect at a Juneteenth concert

Juneteenth concerts span gospel, jazz, R&B, soul, hip-hop, and Afrobeats β€” sometimes all in one lineup. Outdoor stages are common, so bring layers and a low chair if seating isn’t provided. Doors typically open 30 to 60 minutes before the first set. Food and drink vendors are usually on-site; cash is still safer than card at smaller events. Many performers wait until the final hour for headline acts, so pace yourself.
